The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed on Tuesday, that a Philippine Navy personnel sustained severe injury following the "high-speed ramming" of the China Coast Guard (CCG) on the previous Rotation and Resupply (RoRe) mission on June 17.

AFP said the injured personnel had been safely evacuated and received prompt medical treatment.

"The CCG's continued aggressive behavior and unprofessional conduct towards a legitimate humanitarian mission is unacceptable," the AFP said in a statement.

"They must restrain themselves to avoid escalating tensions in the West Philippine Sea (WPS)," it furthered.

Meanwhile, the AFP stressed that it will maintain its presence in the WPS as it is part of the country's territory.

The Ayungin Shoal is located 105 nautical miles west of Palawan and is well within the Philippines' 200-mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
